TO THE TOP Launches on SideQuest

Exciting news today! Electric Hat Games has released a Quest version of TO THE TOP through the SideQuest platform! It is a fully featured version of the game with the entire campaign and bonus content. We are really proud to get this into players hands and give them a big meaty campaign to play on this standalone headset. It has been a tough time to release this title and finding the best route to make this happen wasn’t easy. Luckily we see SideQuest as a new avenue to help support independent VR developers make the games they want and push the bounds of what is possible. 

Here at Electric Hat Games we are really just two people that were lucky enough to have friends, a community, and an opportunity to release a game in a brand new medium. We self funded TO THE TOP, and we are truly independent. We have to seek the right windows to keep us afloat and move forward. Our initial release on Steam was the sole avenue for us to get off the ground and continue making games. Steam is a very open platform where anybody from any walk of life can create and release to the whole world. Without the window of opportunity that Valve created, we wouldn’t exist. Since then we have worked with PlayStation, Vive, Humble Store, and Oculus. TO THE TOP has received incredible reviews from fans and critics with 9/10 reviews from UploadVR and the Official PlayStation Magazine and was nominated for VR Game of the Year.

However, we ran into a wall when trying to bring the game to the Oculus Quest.  Even so, we received a flood of messages and emails asking about when or if TO THE TOP would be coming to Quest. These were fans that loved the game and just wanted to play one of their favorite VR games on a great piece of hardware.  With their support we continued to push forward, and SideQuest began opening all new doors for developers and players. This is a movement that we wanted to be a part of. Meeting the folks from SideQuest we knew their heart was in the right place and their focus was creating opportunities for as many people as possible.  This is why we chose to support SideQuest with TO THE TOP and hopefully create a wider avenue for independent creators.

TO THE TOP for SideQuest will be available on Itch.io at $14.99 USD, this is a cheaper price to reflect the lack of the 30% revenue cut that typical platforms take. Even at the cheaper price you get the full 6+ hour campaign to play in full with no cord attached! We have also tweaked and improved a good amount of the user experience so it will feel fresh for new and returning players to play these 35 levels. This version of the game does not include multiplayer, we had some great memories playing with the community but this is a cut we needed to do after the move from the Oculus store. We think this is a great way to play TO THE TOP so we hope you check it out and check out some of the other great stuff that can be found in SideQuest.
